White soles give your shoes a fresh, sporty look. However, they’re prone to dirt and discolouration so they do need some extra care. With the right treatment, your shoes will stay looking as good as new.
Remove solid dirt from the soles with a soft brush. This will prevent sand or stones from creating scratches while you’re cleaning. You can remove the remaining dirt using a professional cleaner, such as Xsensible Sole Cleaner™. Apply the cleaner to the sides of the sole and allow to penetrate briefly before simply wiping away the dirt with a clean sponge or cloth. Try not to touch the shoe’s upper material when you’re doing this. If you’d like to use an alternative, Collonil’s Carbon Mid-sole Cleaner is a great choice. Both products are available at Xsensible retail outlets.
Tip: don’t forget the laces. Use a special laundry net and wash your laces in the washing machine at a low temperature.
Don’t use scouring pads or aggressive cleaning agents such as bleach. Also, never leave your shoes to dry near a heater as this can cause the leather to warp or crack. Allow your shoes to air dry naturally, away from direct sunlight.
Monthly maintenance is often enough to keep your soles clean. If you can see dirt on your shoes, clean them immediately. Cleaning them thoroughly every month will ensure they retain their grip and your shoes will stay in good condition for longer.
Prevention is better than cure. That’s why you should protect the sides of the soles with a waterproofing and dirt repellent spray such as Xsensible Shoe Protector™ before wearing them. This forms a protective layer over the sole, reducing the likelihood of dirt sticking to it. Repeat this process regularly if you wear your shoes a lot.
